Gag Order or "No Big Deal?" LePage Directive Raises Concerns

Whether it's simply a method of providing accountability in the dissemination of information or an attempt to curtail access to state departments depends on whom you ask. But a new directive from the governor dictating how senior staff members at state agencies are to deal with the Legislature and the press is raising some eyebrows at the State House. Gov. Paul LePage insists that his memo is "no big deal," but Democratic leaders say some lawmakers have already had state workers refuse to meet with them.
