Maine Scholar of Egyptian Politics Sheds Light on Roots of Popular Uprising

Late this afternoon Egyptian President Hosni Mubarek announced that he will not seek another term as president, and will work through the remaining months of his term to bring about a peaceful transition of power. But that will do little to quell the popular movement for his immediate outster, according to University of Southern Maine President Selma Botman, a scholar of modern Egyptian history and politics. She spoke with MPBN's Keith Shortall about latest developments in Egypt, and the impact they could be having on other countries the region, including Jordan and Syria.
